Dear Dev Diary,
At two hours before the deadline, we finally submitted our 2021 Spooktober VN Jam submission "The Raven"! There were some unexpected hurdles along the final weeks but with the amazing team effort on our back, we managed to deliver the game in time, albeit with some minor issues which will be fixed soon.
The game is available for download at itchio, with the judges currently evaluating and shortlisting over 112 entries. To be honest, I could care less whether the game will win or not, but I do hope the players enjoy it.
They may be a hidden meaning with the game, as a dear friend once expressed after learning the plot, but ultimately "The Raven", is a story about consequences. There is no canon ending, despite the introduction of Raquel and the Detective. The College Student may take on various routes in their life, but these all depend on the decision they made that one fatal night. And the idea of them striking up a symbiotic relationship has its own charm, although we may never know why precisely the College Student decided to reach out to Raven. Did they really fall in love? Or is their relationship merely a transactional one so they can survive?
I hope there will come a time when I'll be able to share more of "The Raven's" lore. Yet, this is all I can give for now.
Enjoy the game, have the party of a lifetime, but beware of charming strangers who are too good to be true.
