Dev Diary #05

Happy to announce the release of  "White Book Complete Volume", now available for download just in time before the end of 2020!

The artistic process behind this recent project has been a very interesting experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the simplicity and texture I managed to achieve to render the CGs similar to storybook illustrations.

Regardless of how long the process behind the script was, creating the history or lore behind the existence of the enigmatic book was fun. Similarly to how Azure was brought to life, the rest of the stories have been purposely made to feel unfinished or abrupt. Even the fate of the characters depends solely on the players' interpretation. I can't wait to hear your personal thoughts on the matter.

Especially, because of how close and emotionally cathartic "White Book" has been for me.

Happy New Year! :)

Dev Diary #01

Hello readers, starting from this point on, all visual novel dev related posts will fall under "Dev Diary" for consistency's sake.

Here's the progress I made so far this week!

Since the ongoing project was already around 60% complete by the time I put it aside for Nocturnal Affairs, I have finally placed the last missing background images and music. Having not received any response from the coding issue problem I was having with the game's UI history, I decided to ignore the problem completely rather than obsessed about it.

In any case, I am currently re-designing the UI gallery screen and figuring out how to code it without resulting in a massive headache (the gallery UI continues to intimidate me to this time after years 😥). Every now and then I might alternate between programming the gallery and drawing the CG art to possibly help avoid procrastination.

In regards, to what will happen to my future endeavour as a developer, should I manage to successfully submit this visual novel before the deadline, I am considering stopping entirely to focus exclusively on my art, or, re-polish my earlier visual novel releases. Once I made up my mind, I will make sure to write a proper announcement on all my social media pages. That's all for now.

Thank you for reading this week's update. Take care! 💕

November News!

Long time no see! How have you all been doing this far into what has been an insane year?

I'm excited to announce that I'll be joining a final 2020 game jam hosted by Terra called "Finish Your Visual Novel" over at itch.io. The jam essentially is, finishing your long-overdue project before the start of January 2021.

Keep an eye out on this blog for, hopefully, weekly updates in the days to come.

Take care, practice physical distancing and stay safe! 😉

No Thanks, Eros! - Update 5

Before proceeding with "NTE" update I'm happy to announce that you can now finally play << Before The Tale >> mature version on CloudNovel without having to sign up on their site.

You can check out the project lists' page then click the mature link if you're interested in playing it. Eventually I'll try finding someone who would proofread its game script. Since the thought never passed my mind before. In the meantime please try to ignore the game's grammatical errors. If you can. If not then, play at your own risk. lol

Azure Is Out!

After much self-doubt and horrible anxiety attack I published it!

You can play it here!

Thank goodness I finally got this story out of my system!

As you may all know I had finished writing its script before Yaoi Jam begun last summer. After which I left it to collect dust only to reprise it by the end of 2016.

I don't know when Blanco - the second story- well be released but thankfully the script is done. Not yet proofread but done.

Anyway in case you have questions you know where to find me.

Have a nice evening folks!

Azure Progress

Here goes another abrupt update.

Azure is almost ready to be published! Only a few more works to be done and the game will be ready.

Sadly, at the moment the download option at Cloudnovel is being worked upon so I don't know when I can "actually"  download the game and share it.

I still have to ask the admin wither the content is mature or not though.

Anyways, I'm really looking forward for the game feedbacks!

White Book Progress

Azure is coming along fine.

Yesterday night I added the backgrounds and started surfing online for free bgms. I will probably only use one or two tracks for this game since well it is pretty much short. Game play is roughly around 10 minutes, which makes it my shortest game ever followed by Bus Stop.

Without doubt many players will remain confused about it or ask for a continuation. Although this game is short I must admit I'm satisfied with Azure. It's certainly one of the very few projects I actually concluded lol.

Oh well, I should seriously start looking for a proof reader. Have a nice day!

Working on a KN 2

I'm back again! I didn't expect to update this blog so soon.

I used Ren'py a few days before to finally set up Azure but... it could be due to me being away from programming for so long or the new version complicated to look at ( mind you it took me years to get used to Ren'py ) in the end I eventually went for Cloudnovel.

With this I have no idea if I will be investing money for the download option ( they implemented one last year or so ) then re-upload it on itch.io or just leave the game free.
If I do however, you'd have to sign in to the site to play it. Due to Cloudnovel's game publishing regulation I have to put on mature filter. Which means signing in will be the only way to play it.
I'm more interested in having people download my game then play it rather than signing in first then playing it however.

In other words I am considering paying for the download. I don't mind it really but I don't know if I stashed enough savings to afford me this process.
Regarding the second volume... Have to revise it again then find someone who can proofread it for free but also give me a feedback of the content.

Working on a KN

Hello!

It's been so long since I last updated this blog. I myself can't believe it's 2017 already. I hope those who played Nocturnal Affair's demo enjoyed it. Unfortunately, as always, I haven't been working on the last half of the game script.
This year has kind of been an emotional roller coaster for me both online and off, but I'm not going to ramble about it here. I did decided to separate my personal blog from my game development blog so I will at least keep my word on this.
Going on... as I did stated last summer before Yaoi Jam started, I had a short kinetic novel script proofread and ready to be worked on.
This KN is supposed to be part of a trilogy series. However I will only publish two of them (if I ever feel like working on the second episode at all).
The reason I will not be releasing the third episode is because I think I'll never feel satisfied with the draft version. Plus I think these two KN does give enough general idea of what the whole story is about. In case nobody get it well... just better ask me LOL.
Yesterday I tried working on it with Tyrano Builder but while using it I felt it lacked some functions I'm more used on having with Ren'Py. Which lead me to opt on using the latter instead. I guess I'll save it again for another time.

That's all for now.  Have a nice day! 💓

General Projects Update

Conspiracy

This otome will be put on hold for now. So far I'm reviewing the points system and copy/pasting the script while trying to organize its label.

Yaoi Jam

Starting this Friday I will commence working on the BL project's art assets. The game jam will begin on 1st June so until then, I won't be coding any of the UI nor sprites.
I have also prepared initial sketches for the characters' sprite but wanted to confront a 3rd party's opinion in terms of character design and I'll be opening the thread pretty soon on LemmaSoft so you guys should check us out!

Short KN

A few weeks ago I mentioned I finish writing this short script for a really short KN. I received the proof-read just yesterday and it's 100% ready to be worked on. Depending on its feedback I might make a 2nd chapter for the story. I will be working on this after Yaoi Jam, alongside Conspiracy.

That's all for today's post! In addition, as of next week I'm finished with the school year! (❁´▽`❁)*✲゚*

Sorry!

Hi everyone! I'm sorry for the lack of update!

I'm very busy at school with my my final exams for this year and all piling up. I'm still working on Conspiracy whenever I can though. In fact I'm proud to say Riko's new base sprite version is finally reaching its finishing touches with the coloring.
I've already prepared Yuu's flat colors as well while Katsuo's on standby, ready for the lineart. I admit I kind of neglected copying the proof-read script. I'm too focused on my personal problems too.

I'll make up for the game art after school ends as I await my ill fate. There's a 50.5% chance that I may stop being a VN creator or player around next year for personal reasons. I won't be posting the details about it here though since this is now solely a game development blog. In addition, I love my privacy.

Changing topic, I might partecipate at Yaoi Jam this year! There's this dark short game which has been bugging me since last year. It could even be a 16+ game for its possible contents. No nsfw scenes although there could be some allusion to it but I won't be putting those. I'm thinking of giving more importance to the psychological aspect of the game rather than the characters' physical relationship. Plus, I'm still not good with drawing nor writing those scenes despite my deep love for BL manga, literature and games.

As for that short KN I finished writing, turns out I will be using Cloud Novel for it. It will have only one soundtrack and some CGs. No sprite though. Depending on the feedback I might make a second part or episode for it which more or less explains the story. The latter will be difficult for neither I myself understand what that story is all about. I'm so ashamed of myself.

This is the longest post I've written after a long time.

Take care everyone!

Before the Tale

I'm happy to announce that Before the Tale is finally playable!

This was suppose to be an entry for Cloud Novel's Summer Jam which eventually became a trial project as well. A psychological horror, it's a short kinectic novel told by Baron Claude Fortier before meeting Eloise Rimmer. Please let me hear your thoughts!

You can play the game by visiting the Games' section page!

Before the Tale News

My suppose to be "short summer project" is about to come to an end. I can't fully assure its content being "frightful" although it is suppose to be a psychological horror.
If I don't laze around on making the backgrounds and CGs I will be done in a few days depending on how much work both sides take.
With a hopeful positive outcome of my first Cloudnovel project I can't wait to start making other short games or perhaps even episodic visual novels which backgrounds I luckily won't be working on - phew!- I'm however satisfied with my attempt since I got to put on use once again my basic knowledge of prospective which I learned more or less 4 years ago.
Anyway with the same engine I'm thinking of giving life to another short visual novel which has been bugging me since last year. I'll fill you guys in more in the future if I have the chance! ♡〜٩( ˃́▿˂̀ )۶〜♡

Before the Tale CG WiP

Only backgrounds and CGs left until I can fully publish Before the Tale. I'm entirely sure the BGs won't be very "eye pleasing" since they're all a bunch of quick sketches with imperfections - this is hard on my side - but my goal is to at least see how I manage light and shadowing on objects other than accessories or humans.
Getting back on topic, I want to spoil a bit so here's a preview of CG sketches and work in progress for my first kinetic novel with original BGs... To be released... one of these weeks? /(@゚ペ@)

PS. I want to finish it soon!

Haloa There!

   Weird expression check!

Right now I'm taking a break from Before the Tale. I can't believe half of July's week went by already and only one and a half left for me to work on the rest of the game. Ha! Unsurprisingly I stopped Conspiracy's script only because Mizuno's route complicated all episodes' structure (more or less) but overall I'm quite near the end of the light.
Summer days are reaching over 30°c and I can barely sleep because of the warm nights. My daydream tells me Winter's cousin is paying the world a rather close up visit.
I'd like to write more but my impending melancholy is getting the best of me yet again. This is one of those perfect moments to write melos and sad stories...

Horror Story (Maybe?)

I'm working on a project for a summer "horror" themed event on Cloudnovel, a new online visual novel engine which is still on beta. Differently from Ren'Py,which you can download and work even without internet, CloudNovel is easy to use but works online. So far I'm getting the hang of it.

The project I came up with is suppose to be a "prequel" to the actual game I had in mind, which is a 19th century psychological horror centering around a young middle class girl who marries a handsome Baron living in their small town. This summer project is told from the Baron's point of view which reveals the events that lead him to commit such actions. In other words I'm writing from a psychopath's perspective. Oops... (●__●)
Problem is, the way he narrates throughout the whole game creeps the hell out of me (he uses so many adjectives) and seems like there is no proper timeline in the story. More than explaining the whole of it, he limits to remember what seems convenient for him and I'm hating it! -Says the one making the game-
Rather than a horror genre it's becoming something different from what I hand in mind... On the other hand every project I plan always end up being entirely different.
